I am teaching a new graduate seminar on “advances in contemporary IR” (POLS686) in the Spring 2024 semester. The course will center on exploring five major new books in global politics. These include Atom Getachew’s Worldmaking After Empire, Adam B. Lerner’s From the Ashes of History, Ches Thurber’s Between Mao and Gandhi, Lisa Weeden’s Authoritarian Apprehensions, and Ayse Zarakol’s Before the West. We’ll be joined by each of the five authors to explore the substance and research process behind each of the books. It’ll be an exciting and engaging course! If you’re an NIU student, please join me!
